Look and Tremble

Today was a different kind of day for me. Last week, I made an appointment with Kim Stone Photography to take pictures of me at Look and Tremble on the Chipola River. I had seen her water shots and they were so unique that I decided I wanted to give it a try. I especially liked the idea of being submerged in the water - can't see the body that way. :)

Took me forever to go to bed last night because I had to pick out clothes to wear. I've never been a model before, so I worried over everything. How was my makeup going to look? Was I going to pick out the right clothes?

Woke up this morning and I was so nervous. I'm always the one taking the pictures and the only professional pictures I've had taken were family pictures and Glamour Shots (which are not me, let me tell you! I don't like all that heavy makeup and the hair styles). I went to work and could hardly concentrate, but had to because I had some adjustments to make on timesheets that required all my attention. I even emailed my co-worker, Kim, to pray for me because I was so nervous. She blessed me so much because she reminded me that I had always wanted to be a model just once and that God was finally giving me the desires of my heart. That calmed me down a little and made me smile.

At 3:00, I left the office and picked up my sister-in-law, Robbie, who is visiting from S.C. So glad she could go with me. I wasn't exactly sure how long it was going to take to drive there, so I wanted to give us some extra time in case I got lost. We found the place with no problem and drove down this long dirt road. Passed several cars, but all we saw were men and that made Robbie nervous. We drove back out to wait at the bridge and Kim called right before 5:00 to find out where we were. She had been down at the river taking pictures and we had failed to see her, so we drove back down. She met us and I felt like I had known her forever. She is such a sweet lady.

A few days ago, Kim posted that she was doing a photo shoot and another photographer approached Kim's husband and told him she could give her some good advice on how to become a professional photographer. We all thought that was funny since Kim has been a professional for years. But, it reminded me of a book that my husband had bought me over 20 years ago on how to Start Your Professional Photography Business. I got out of the car and handed the book to Kim and we had a good laugh after she hit me with it. But, she asked to borrow it and see if there were any good tips in it.

Then, we approached the river to begin shooting. Thankfully, the men had left and it was just Kim, Robbie and me. The water was a little cold when I first stepped into it, but then I got used to it and it was very comfortable. Can't say the same for the rocks I was walking on... We started out sitting on the rocks and then gradually getting a little deeper until all but my head was submerged. I had so much fun! I started out very stiff and unsure of myself, but Kim is a pro and she made me feel so comfortable and at ease. Also started out with straight hair until my head got wet. Anybody that knows me, knows how curly my hair is.

I think we did four outfit changes - me changing behind a towel. Like I said, I'm soo glad those men left. All in all, I had a fantastic time. Can't wait to see the photos. I plan on giving them to Vance for our 40th wedding anniversary in December if I can wait that long.
