Woke up to a very cool day. I was worried that I would burn up today in my FR (flame retardant) clothes that I have to wear when I'm around the crews. Long sleeves, heavy jeans, steel-toed boots (actually, they are steel-toed sneakers). But, the temperature was in the 60's. Went to work and sat through a very boring safety meeting, then waited for my boss to take care of a few things before we went out to check on the crews. Well, that never happened. He had been off three days last week and had to catch up on his work. Didn't bother me. I asked to have the afternoon off. Ate my lunch and left at 12:30.
Came home and got busy moving living room furniture from one side of the room to the other, so I could sweep and mop. Could only do a little at the time. The stuff I was using to mop with was strong and I had to come in the computer room and sit down in front of the open window to get some air. It took all afternoon, but I got it done! I even re-arranged the furniture, which has never been done before. At least, the couch has never moved from it's spot since the day we moved in. I moved it under the front window and moved my chair in it's place. The chair is more comfortable to sit in and watch TV, but the couch is more comfortable to sleep on. I just won't be able to watch TV when I'm sick and laying on the couch. What we really need is a TV on a swivel - like you see in hospital rooms. :) My next project is cleaning the furniture. The couch and chair need cleaning really bad. And Vance needs a recliner. His is broke and he has to prop it against the wall. I tried to buy him one several months ago when we had our income tax money, but he wouldn't let me spend $300 on a new one. He told me tonight that I needed to start looking at used furniture stores. I guess that's what I will do Saturday.
Now, it's time for me to go to bed. Goodnight and God bless..........

It's Been a Good Day
Had a great service at church this morning. Came home and worked in my room. It's beginning to look a little more organized. Was supposed to go to a baby shower and completely forgot about it. I was so involved in my room that I forgot. Does that ever happen to other people? I was also looking for my school annuals. Since I'm re-connecting with some of the girls that I went to school with, I wanted to see what they looked like back then. I finally found them.
Went to the grocery store and bought a few groceries. Got some of the biggest strawberries I've ever seen. Just got through eating three of them and they were really good. I was afraid they wouldn't be sweet, but they were.
Yesterday, I met up with a friend from school who used to live down the street from me and we went to an estate auction. It was the first one I had ever sat through and actually bid on something. I bought some jewelry and then got two bookcases for $11.08 - one about 6 ft. tall and the other one about 2 1/2 feet tall, both white and they looked brand new. They match the pieces that I already had in the room. I spent the rest of the afternoon and this afternoon organizing my used-to-be dining/ but now my craft/computer room. It's looking better.
Ate supper, then mopped the kitchen floor. The dogs came in and it already needs to be mopped again. They are so sloppy when they drink water. They just dribble all over the floor. I'll do the living room tomorrow after work. I'm supposed to ride with the boss again and check out the crews. I hope they are doing something interesting tomorrow.
Guess I better get to bed since I have to get up early and be at work at 7:00. Good night and God bless.......

20.4 Down So Far

Yep, I've lost 20.4 pounds so far. Still loving the Jenny Craig Program. The food is so good. Just finished my double chocolate cake. So good. I don't know what I'm going to do when I have to start cooking for myself again. I'm really gonna miss the convenience of their food. I've still got about 15 lbs. to lose before I have to worry about that. People are noticing that I'm losing weight. Some have even said it was about time to stop. I don't think so! They don't realize (and couldn't believe it when I told them) that I am just down to 189 lbs. They think I'm smaller than that. Are they blind? Oh well, I may not look to them like I weigh this much, but to me, I certainly do.
I've been so hooked on Facebook that I haven't taken the time to blog lately. Who reads these things anyway?
I've been doing a lot of what I call "drive-by shooting" with my camera around an older part of town. I go at lunch and drive real slow and try to stop in the middle of the road to take a picture of some landmark that's been around as long as I have. It's been so much fun to post them on Facebook for all my friends who live away from here to see. They love it and I'm having so much fun. Found out from my friend at the antique store in L.H. that they are going to tear down our water tower, so I had to go take a picture of it. I parked in the funeral home parking lot and took some pictures. Don't know when it's going to be torn down, but she said it would be soon. They are tearing down the old jail downtown, so I've been going by there several times a week to capture the progress. Will try to go by there Thursday or Friday at lunch. This week has been very, very busy at work and I didn't even leave the office yesterday for lunch. Had to run to the grocery store for Daddy today at lunch. Tomorrow will be so busy, I won't have time to go out. Timesheets have to be in early this week so they can shut down the system for a week. That will really put a load on me the next pay period, but I'll have five days with nothing to do. I just don't know what to do with myself.
Our air conditioner is not working, so it's been too hot to do anything around the house. I wanted to really give the house a good cleaning this past weekend, but only got so far as sweeping. Almost passed out from the heat, so that was as far as I got. The guy was supposed to come out today to look at it, but I guess he got too busy, cause he never showed up. I sure hope he comes tomorrow. Tonight, it's been pretty cool, so I haven't even broken a sweat. It's been so nice. (Just as I typed this, a cool breeze blew through the window. Thank You, Lord.)
Saturday, after I cooled off a little, I went and bought some curtains for my kitchen and dining room. They really brightened up the place. Michelle, you would be proud. Once I get the a/c back on, I'm going to try to paint my kitchen. But, I can't do it now. Too hot! Maybe I'll take a couple of days off while the timekeeping system is down and paint. I'm ready for a change.
Sunday, we had a good service at church, then I went by to see my mother. She was doing pretty good. Supposed to have had a perm today. Haven't talked to her yet. Will call her tomorrow after I get the timesheets locked in. Came home and ate, then Vance and I went to the nursing home to see his mom. She was sound asleep, so we just left her gift and came home. Vance went back to see her yesterday. He said she told him she had fallen asleep when Mac was there, slept all afternoon and through the night. I'm glad we didn't wake her up. She really needed the rest. Healing comes with sleep.
I've been getting to bed before midnight for the past several weeks, so I'm going to get off here and go to bed. Goodnight and God bless............
