Tornadoes

Have been watching the Weather Channel and it's heartbreaking to see all the damage that the tornadoes have done today. Yazoo City, Mississippi, was almost wiped out. How heartbreaking. Pray for those people who have lost everything.

I have family in Alabama and Tennessee that I'm praying for and my son, Vance, and his family are in South Carolina right now. The bad weather is supposed to be heading their way tomorrow. I pray that they are not going to be traveling in the bad storms. I'm just praying that they will be safe wherever they are. My sister-in-law and neice live in South Caroline, too. Please pray for all the people in the storms path. We are under a tornado watch here in the Panhandle of Florida right now.
It has been blowing a gale all day. I went to the Steve Retherford Benefit Fish Fry and bought a plate and took it to the City Marina to eat. The wind was so strong, my car was rocking and I have a big, heavy car. There were people fishing, but not catching anything. I think the water and wind was just too rough.

I wanted to photograph something, but just could not get inspired today. For a photographer, that's as bad as a writer having writer's block.

Yesterday, I bought a new toy. It's a Pandigital Photo, Slide & Negative Converter. I got it at Bed, Bath and Beyond of all places. Saw it in their advertising paper. I went at lunch and picked it up. It is so much fun to use and very easy. The only thing I did wrong was to delete the memory card after I uploaded the pictures to my computer. I didn't know that I was deleting the program that came along with it. Of course, I don't think I'll need it, but I sure wish I had read the book to know that I wasn't supposed to delete the photos. I just don't like to read the books. I try to figure things out on my own. I guess I'm as bad as the guys in that respect.

Reconnecting With Old Friends

I am so thankful that my daughter-in-law showed me how to set up a Facebook account. Thank you, Michelle. It has been the most rewarding thing I have done in a long time. I have been able to reconnect with friends from elementary and middle school, youth from my old church and family that I wouldn't be able to keep up with otherwise.

Through Facebook, I have become friends of other friends and have made new friends. These new friends may live hundreds of miles away, but we still have a lot in common. Most of us love the Lord Jesus with all our hearts. We can pray for each other, share what God is doing in our lives, and rejoice in the birth of new babies.

In our prayer group (a group of my old classmates), we have seen many miracles happen. God is answering our prayers and we are growing stronger in our faith and in our friendships. We are truly sisters in Christ.

Through Facebook, we get to share pictures of our children and grandchildren. I love seeing the pictures of the youth that used to be in our church youth group. Most of them are now parents and they share pictures of their children. These young people have become such wonderful parents. What a blessing that is to be able to witness and hear the stories of their children.

I have family that I love dearly, but we don't get together except at weddings and funerals. But, through Facebook, I can keep up with what they are doing and even get to know their children better. That just blesses my heart.

I have a son, daughter-in-law and two grandchildren that live 100 miles away. Facebook keeps me in touch with their daily activities. They don't get to come visit very often because it would mean staying in a hotel. We have dogs that they are allergic to. Since I have had so many Meniere's Disease attacks, my husband doesn't want me to drive that far; so I don't get to see them very often. It could be very dangerous if I had an attack while driving at 70 mph. When the attacks hit, there is no warning. I get very dizzy and cannot open my eyes because the world is spinning and I start vomiting. If I had an attack going that fast, it could be my last day on this earth. My husband has circulation problems in his legs and they hurt him too bad to drive that far. If I go, I have to get someone to drive me and it's hard to find somebody that has the time. So, Facebook has been the best way to keep in touch. I feel like I'm a part of their every day life.

So, thank you, Michelle, for enlarging my territory and allowing me to reconnect with old friends and make new ones. And for allowing me to be a part of your life. I am blessed to have you as my daughter by marriage. You are truly a daughter of my heart and I love you very much.

It's Springtime!

Happy Spring everybody! Don't you just love this time of the year? Spring and Fall are my most favorites months of the year because of all the beautiful flowers that are blooming. I missed out on taking pictures of Cherokee Roses this year. I absolutely love them; but everytime I saw them, I was on my way somewhere and didn't have time to stop. Saturday, when I did have time, they were no longer blooming. So, I came home and took pictures of the weeds in my yard. Yeah, I know - weeds. But, because of the sandy soil and huge oak trees, we just haven't been able to grow many flowers or grass. Besides, I don't have my mother's green thumb.

A couple of weeks ago, I did get a few pictures of the wisteria that just popped up in our backyard. My husband hates it, so that's one thing I didn't try to plant. I'm hoping he will let it stay because I love the beautiful flowers and the intoxicating smell. If he will let me keep it, I will try to keep it trimmed up so it won't take over the fence.

"I call to the Lord, who is worthy of praise." 2 Samuel 22:4

Happy Resurrection Sunday

I was so looking forward to church this morning, but the migraine headache I woke up with just would not let me go. And, no, it wasn't because I wanted to show off a new dress and shoes, cause I didn't buy myself a new outfit. I heard from Scottie and Kim that the skit Tina and the kids did was fantastic. Was hoping somebody taped it, but they didn't. I still have a headache, but nothing like it was when I woke up.

Today is just such a special day to reflect on what Jesus did for us and how much He loves us. Who else would allow themselves to be nailed to a cross when He could have called legions of angels to stop it? Only Jesus would die for you and me because He loved us so much. He wanted to take away all our sins and all the diseases that He knew would be in the world. I just want to say "Thank You, Jesus, for dying for me."

Wanted to have Chad and Tabitha and the kids over for supper, but they are still hurting so much from the car accident they were involved in on March 5th, that they are just going to stay home and try to get some much needed rest. The doctor has said they there is permanent damage, so there treatment will take awhile. They did go see an attorney on Friday. They do not want to sue the man for all he has; they just want to make sure their medical bills are paid. I'm still praying for the drunk driver that caused the accident that he will stop drinking (have heard that he did) and that he will get saved.

It's such a beautiful day today outside. I can hear the hum of the weedeater and now the leaf blower as Vance works in the front yard. If my head didn't still hurt, I'd go sit outside, but I don't think my eyes could take the bright sunlight.

I'm now enjoying my new computer. Now, that it is up and running on the internet. I just have to get my old one back from my cousin, Brett, and upload all my pictures to this new one (which will hold 177,000 photos). I've got a birthday party, a wedding and pictures I took at the church egg hunt last week to edit and print and put on CD's. I need to get that done this week. There will be some late nights sitting in front of a computer screen, but I love it. Brett said it took 24 hours to defrag my old computer and there wouldn't be any sense to try to upgrade it. That's why I bought a new one. This one shouldn't need upgrading for a long time.

I pray that everybody has a blessed Resurrection Day! Remember that Jesus loves you and He died just for you! If you haven't asked Him to come into your heart, don't you think today would be a great day to do that?
